Filter Box for IDAS Filters

We plan to carry a filter box optimized for IDAS filter thickness. This should be the good news for someone who are looking for the solution which allows to use a LPS filter with wide angle lens and ZWO or QHY camera.  0109b

A filter box is set with SIGMA 20mm/F1.4 ART and ZWO 1600MC

As mentioned here several times, today’s high performance wide angle lenses are so sensitive to the back focus distance. So the light path is very critical when a filter is set between a lens and a camera. This is the solution. A filter box is optimized for IDAS regular 48mm filters,  not QRO series. An another word, it won’t perform as expected without a filter.

Features;

  • IDAS 48mm filter
  • Allows to change filters without removing a lens and refocusing
  • Canon or Nikon lens
  • Any camera having 17.500 +/- 0.010 mm flange back (as ideal value) and T-thread female
  • Arca Swiss compatible mounting bracket along with 1/4″-20 threaded holes

As shown above, two magnets secure firmly holding a filter drawer.

The light path tolerance between a lens and a camera is so tight. Let’s say 10 – 20 micron accuracy . So a camera(or a sensor) must be well aligned at the factory too. In my personal opinion, 17.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm is not what a lens requires at all. Generally speaking, telephoto lens has much wider tolerance.
