36ED is being prepared to be released this summer. This is 200mm/F5.6 telephoto lens. This should be a great macro lens.

A middle part is drawtube for quick focusing. M42 helical focuser and M42 iris can be added if needed. Reducer/flattener will be available for astrophotography.

  1. That looks beautiful Ted. Any idea of what value reducer will be available yet, although f5.6 is not too bad, a f/3~4 would be excellent….:)

  2. Ted,

You know I tell it like it is.

My opinion of the 36ED is I’d rather have my Canon 200mm f/2.8L for astro work. It’s faster. I also don’t need a field flattener with it. It’s shorter, too.

As these “telescopic” lenses get smaller in FLs, you’re running into competition with stock camera lenses, especially with those in the used market. They are relatively plentiful and cost less than new equipment.

  3. Hi Ted,
I’ve been thinking of picking up a 200mm lens for the November 3 eclipse and this looks like it might fit the bill. Any idea on pricing? Also what mounting options will be available to use these as spotting scopes or guide scopes?
