Sigma SD-1 for Astronomy

I’m always curious how Foveon sensor works for astronomy. This is one example.

Well resolved as expected. At least looks like different from Bayer sensor. In fact, Foveon concept should be ideal. But I’m concerned how sensitive R layer. I was told SG-1’s features and functionality are not good. But it is not big issue for astrophotography. If the sensor is sensitive enough for astronomy, it should work very well.  Probably it will be the time to start testing when next model will be coming up.

I will be flying to Europe tonight to attend German trade show with AOK this weekend. This is my 1st trip for astronomy show. I only know Japan and USA products. So I’m very much excited to see what European products are available.
