Astro Photo

Southern hemisphere objects are always fresh for me. This image was taken by Len Fulham, Australia.

Hutech modified Canon 5D MII, iso 400, single 5 min exposure, Astro-Physics 130GT + custom field flattener f6.5, unguided on Astro-Physics 1200GTO mount. RAW image colour correction in iPhoto, no other processing, convert to jpg

Next is wonderful timelapse movie created by long-term BORG user, Jim Windlinger.

His other timelapse movies looks there.Enjoy them as well.

Although I mentioned Olympus 45mm F1.8 works for astro photo in full aperture, looks like I was wrong. I didn’t test in high resolution. In my standard, it should be stopped down to F2.5 (surprisingly very small steps are possible in this lens). This time I used LPS filter for longer exposure to capture more stars while avoiding background saturation.

Only lower left corner looks still more coma. But this is still F2.5 and 90mm lens image field in full size sensor. Not bad all.
